About Us
This is the story of how I became the Queen of Shea butter!
Once upon a time before covid I was working in a hospital in Downtown Boston. While checking in a patient, she complimented me on how beautiful my skin was. I thanked her and continued with my task. It was common for me to receive compliments about my skin, but this day was different. She asked what products I used, and what’s my regiment? I responded “nothing.” She said “no way, tell me your secret cause everything I use I have an allergic reaction.” I said “honestly I don’t buy any product, I just make my own shea body butter.” She asked me how? I explained to her how I made my body butter, and the ingredients I used to make it. She asked me to bring her a jar the following Tuesday.
When Tuesday came I had my glass jar of shea body butter ready to give. I was excited to be helping her with her skin. I placed the jar of body butter on my desk and my co-worker saw it. She said that woman is just going to steal your recipe and make a business out of it. I was flabbergasted. I never saw it like that. She asked me to sell it to her instead because her son had eczema. She asked me how much? I told her $10. She quickly cashApp me and walked away with the jar of body butter. As this was happening, another patient was standing at my desk waiting to be checked out. She whispered to me “you should have never sold her all that shea body butter for only $10 it should have been $20. Bring me one next week, and I’ll pay you $20. On that day I went home and I was like “Oh My God! What just happened?”
When next week came Covid19 was among us. Everything got shut down, and I found myself part of the “Essential Worker” group. The pandemic was hard on all of us, so no need to elaborate. I started creating loc jewelry to cope with the loss of my Auntie Raymonde to covid and the pain I was experiencing. While attending a Good Friday service on April 2, 2021. My friend Justice introduced me to his guest Zaina. She took notice of my hair, and I started showing her my loc Jewelry. Zaina told me about Ghana and how I can get my loc jewelry made in large quantities by artisans. On that day I honestly thought she was a messenger from God. She was not even a Christian she was a Muslim. The only reason we met was because she did her covid test too early and they would not let her get on her plane to Ghana.
The same week I bought my plane tickets to Ghana. I decided it would be more profitable for me to go into the Shea butter business instead of making loc jewelry. I called my good friend Angelica, who called Oby, who connected me with Vergasto a trusted Shea butter seller in Ghana. In December 2021 I flew to Ghana and bought close to 500 pounds of raw shea butter from the Northern Region part of Ghana. I flew the Shea Butter back to Boston, and this is the story of how I became the Queen of shea butter!
